Craig ACDC Team Comes Back With Many Awards from the 2017 State Competition!


Craig High School sent two coaches and two teams up to the State Competition in Anchorage which was held February 22-25th.

Team 1

  • Duane Wood
  • Wyatt Hilder
  • Dayna Johnson
  • Tristan Douville
  • Alex Price
  • Kaylie Yorgensen
  • Brandy Marinese
  • Johanna Allen
  • Tiffany Mickelson

Team 2

  • Hannah Altland
  • Wayne Brookshire
  • Mary Bolling
  • Victor Warnier
  • Wyeth Sheets
  • Jalyn Spear
  • Tristin Trozelle
  • Sydney Bass
The two teams where coached by Jessica Hughes and Kyle EbbigHausen.



Team 1 placed first in Division III and First for Division III in the Super Quiz event
Team 2 placed third in Division III and third for Division III in the Super Quiz event


This is the second time that Craig has had two teams place in Division III  but the first time that two teams have placed in the Super Quiz event. Making a bit of history, Craig was the only school in the history of the Super Quiz event to have two teams place!

[During the Super Quiz, teammates take turns solving multiple choice challenges in front of a live audience. The public pressure adds a little more intensity and high-stakes to the competition.]


The Awards:

Duane Wood won the Bronze in Essay (Honors Division) and Bronze in Speech (Honors Division).  His speech was about "transforming yourself into the person you want to be."

Tristan Douville won the Silver in Econ (Scholastic Division), Bronze in Science (Scholastic Division,) and Gold in Essay (Scholastic Division.)

Alex Price won the Bronze in Interview (Scholastic Division.)

Kaylie Yorgensen won the Silver in Essay (Scholastic Division.)

Mary Bolling won the Bronze in Math (Honors Division.)

Victor Warnier  won the Bronze in Math (Scholastic Division.)

Arianna Brooks was the Top Alternate in Essay, Science, and Econ.

Mary Bolling was the highest scoring team member for Team 2 and
Tristan Douville was the highest scoring team member for Team 1.

[The ACDC themed Topic for the 2016-2017 year was World War II]



The ACDC team and Coaches would like to thank all the parents, administrators, and school board for all of their support, and a special shout out to the teams from Ketchikan, Metlakatla, and Juneau who are such great friends and supporters---and make all the meets so wonderful!
