Trooper Report Week of May 14, 2017

On 5/16/17 at approximately 2145 hours, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales Island received a report of Arson near Klawock. The investigation revealed that unknown individuals had set fire to a 2000 Ford Focus that had been parked on the primitive boat launch near eight mile Boundary road. The Klawock Fire Department responded to put out the fire, but the vehicle was a total loss. Damages are estimates to be approximately $1300.00. Multiple items of evidence were recovered from the scene, and are being routed to the State Crime Lab for fingerprint and DNA analysis. The investigation is ongoing. Type: Theft/Criminal Trespass

On 5/19/2017, Prince of Wales based Troopers received a report of a theft that occurred in Naukati sometime over the last two weeks. Vern Guenther reported tools and plumbing supplies stolen from an unsecured storage shed on his property. The value of items stolen was estimated to be $250. Anyone with information regarding this theft, or the various other thefts recently reported on Prince of Wales Island, is encouraged to call the Alaska State Troopers at 826-2918.
