Dispatch Text:

On 12/17/2021, at approximately 1921, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a silver Ford Explorer on Hydaburg Road for an equipment violation. Investigation revealed the driver, Melvin Minch, 29 of Klawock, was driving on a revoked license with prior convictions. Minch was arrested and transported to the Craig Jail where he was remanded for the charge of Driving While License is Revoked with bail set at being released on his own recognizance. The vehicle was released to a third party.

Type: Domestic Violence Assault

On 12/24/2021 at approximately 1950 hours, AST was dispatched to a domestic disturbance in Hollis Alaska. Investigation revealed during a family gathering, a female family member had tried to intervene between Bryan Konas and another family member who were threatening to fight. While trying to stop the fight, the female was then assaulted by Bryan Konas. Alcohol was involved and small children were present. Konas was arrested and transported to Craig Jail.

Location: Anchor Point

Type: Theft, Criminal Mischief

On 9/7/21 at 0935 hours, Troopers received a report about damaged and stolen items from an ADF&G weir on the Anchor River. An investigation showed Charles Tangman, 37 of Anchor Point, and Jennifer Reiser, 38 of Anchor Point, had damaged and stole the items. On 12/12/21 Tangman was arrested on charges of Theft and Criminal Mischief along with an unrelated warrant for his arrest. Reiser was given summons to appear on the same charges and released.

Type: Child Pornography Investigation

In early 2021 the Alaska Bureau of Investigation’s Technical Crime Unit received a tip from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children. The tip revealed that an internet user in Alaska had uploaded several images and videos containing child sexual abuse material. TCU Investigators launched a thorough investigation into the reported activity. Over the course of the investigation Troopers determined that the computer responsible for the upload belonged to 34-year-old North Pole resident Jonathan Linam. On December 15, 2021 the Alaska State Troopers Criminal Suppression Unit in Fairbanks arrested Linam on an arrest warrant for three counts of Possession of Child Pornography. Linam was booked into Fairbanks Correctional Center with bail set at $20,000.

The Alaska ICAC is part of the National ICAC which is a network of 61 coordinated task forces representing over 4,500 federal, state, and local law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies.  These agencies are continually engaged in proactive and reactive investigations and prosecutions of persons involved in child abuse and exploitation involving the internet.

Type: DUI, VCOR, RESISTING ARREST

On, 02/21/2021, AST responded to a report of a possibly intoxicated person at Fire Station 2 in Nikiski. Troopers responded and contacted a male who had multiple injuries to his face and hand. The male appeared to be under the influence of drugs and reported he had beaten himself with a stick as well as head-butted a tree in an attempt to remove a bullet from his jaw.(no bullet located) Investigation revealed, Kevin Park, 27, of Nikiski, had driven to the fire station after the altercation with himself. Park is on conditions of release in a separate case.  Park fought with Troopers while being placed under arrest for DUI (DRUGS) and Violation his conditions of release.

Type: Fatal Fire Investigation

On December 21, 2021 at 5:35 pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a request to conduct a welfare check on an adult male at a remote cabin just outside of Soldotna. Family members had attempted to contact the man for multiple days, and had received no response. Prior to Troopers making it to the area, a family friend went to the cabin to locate the man. The friend found the cabin completely burned to the ground and covered in snow. Troopers and Deputy Fire Marshals responded to the scene and located human remains. The remains were sent to the State Medical Examiner for positive identification. Deputy Fire Marshals are conducting an origin and cause investigation.
