AK15092767 Location: Prince of Wales Type: Unlawful Possession of Miscellaneous Shellfish Aboard a Vessel

On 11-16-2015, Alaska Wildlife Troopers based on the PV Enforcer contacted Sidney McGuire, age 27 of California, in Hetta Inlet near Prince of Wales Island. McGuire was on board the commercial fishing vessel Sea Hunt and was participating in the commercial sea cucumber dive fishery. Investigation revealed McGuire was in unlawful possession of rock scallops while in possession of commercially harvested sea cucumbers. McGuire was issued a summons to appear into the District Court at Craig.
UPDATE: On 2-3-2016 a bench trial was held in the District Court at Prince of Wales where McGuire was found guilty of the offense of unlawful possession of miscellaneous shellfish aboard a vessel. McGuire was sentenced to a fine of $400 with $200 suspended and one year of probation.

On 2/4/16, Alaska Wildlife Troopers from Prince of Wales Island cited Shawn Yates, 31 YOA, of Klawock for shooting a deer from a boat. The incident took place on 11/19/15 and the investigation resulted from a citizen complaint. Arraignment is set at the Craig District Court is on 2/17/16.
