No One Owes You Happiness

And No One Can Take Away Your Happiness

Some people follow sports. Some people follow fashion. I'm a news junky. From the moment I wake up I arrange my schedule based on which programs will be on and election years are particularly my favorite. I look forward to primary voting days like they are a special holiday, where I cook a special meal, drink wine and listen to the results come in--pretty exhilarating, eh? ;-)

This year's election I have noticed something much different than in previous ones...and it's this idea:
"That I will only vote for the Person who will make me HAPPY and provide for me"
I wrote about this in the past, but Western Society has come to a cross-roads where more and more people start walking towards a notion of "I deserve to be Happy." In my editorial The Thirty Major Causes of Failure: Which of These are Holding You Back (Part 1)  and (Part 2) Napoleon Hill makes a list of the Major Causes of Failure. Among the two most import I have seen are:
10. Negative personality. There is no hope of success for the person who repels people through a negative personality. Success comes through the application of power, and power is attained through the cooperative efforts of other people. A negative personality will not induce cooperation.

28. Egotism and Vanity. These qualities serve as red lights which warn others to keep away. They are Fatal to Success.
This idea that "I deserve to be Happy" or that "The World Owes Me Happiness" is nothing more and nothing less than a Narcissistic, Negative Personality Flaw. I'm not saying that being happy is wrong but rather the idea that everyone needs to cater to your wants and needs because you deserve to be happy that is wrong. Despite what my Millennial Generation has been taught by their parents, No One Owes Me Happiness.

I am the creator of my universe and the creator of my own happiness!

Because of this fundamental truth and despite my obsession with politics I realized a long time ago

Yes. Politicians can do some terrible things and mess up your country, your state,  and your city. I would know since I was born in the Soviet Union which no longer exists. However, in a philosophical sense the world may be collapsing but it's up to you to take control of your security and your happiness. No one else can do it but you. We often forget that in life and need to be reminded. So, this weekend if you are down. If you are stressed. Just stop and internalize:
