On 12/26/16 at approximately 1145 hours, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales Island received a report of a single vehicle collision near mile 12 of the Klawock-Hollis Hwy. Investigation revealed that Ralph Halvorsen, age 27 of Craig, had been travelling westbound on the Klawock-Hollis Hwy near mile 12 when he lost control of his vehicle in an icy section of roadway. The 1999 Toyota Pickup that Halvorsen was operating left the roadway and struck the embankment. The vehicle sustained disabling damage from the collision. Damages to the vehicle were estimated at $4,000.00. Halvorsen did not sustain any injuries in the incident.

On 12-29-16 at approximately 2133 hours, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales received a report of a domestic violence assault at a residence in Hydaburg. Investigation revealed Celeste Zarate, age 25 of Hydaburg, assaulted a family member causing minor injury. Zarate was arrested on one (1) count Assault 4th Degree Domestic Violence, and remanded to the Craig Jail.

On 12-31-16 at approximately 1124 hours, Alaska State Trooper on Prince of Wales received a report that Michael Denny, age 55 of Thorne Bay, was found deceased at a residence in Thorne Bay. The State Medical Examiner was notified and the body is being sent for an autopsy. Next of kin has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
