Craig, Alaska--My testimony as a rebuttal to Ralph Mackie's at the City of Craig's Council meeting on March 16 was edited out of Cathy Bolling's report in The Island Post on March 29, 2017. I did not have a prepared statement but spoke from my heart in opposition to the concept of sanctuary cities or states.by Paul E. Dawson
Our civil society in based on the concept of the "RULE OF LAW." The Supreme Court ruled in Roe v Wade that a woman had the right to privacy and consequently the right to an abortion. This kind of ruling should have been an amendment to the Constitution. But, the Constitution gave the court the power to act so I must comply with the law and hope and work for a change.
Our current Resistance Movement is encouraging our citizens to be non-compliant and even to break the law as passed by Congress and signed by President Clinton in 1996. This law and the U.S. CODE. controls immigration into the United States. If you render assistance to a person illegally in our country you could be serving 5 years in prison.
The Progressive movement was all over the South for the Jim Crow laws and rightly so. Brown v Board of Education required equal education for all children. Federal law over ruled the Overal Fabus of Arkansas and George Wallace of Alabama. Therefore the Arkansas Guard was Federalized to enforce the law.
I believe in America as a Nation. We have the right to control our borders and those that want to enter. I do not believe in Globalization of laws and open borders of our Nation.
The President of our Nation swears to enforce the laws of the United States.
