[Editorial] Double Standards

Earlier this week [I posted about the Roseanne controversy] there were a lot of great comments on Facebook with the majority of people being upset at the MSM hypocrisy. There is no excuse for what Roseanne said, the issue is that when the left trashes the right there is a double standard and nothing ever happens when the foot goes on the other shoe.

Case in Point in the SAME WEEK that Roseanne was fired and scrubbed from the internet within 24 hours.

We Have This Jewel:

“Ivanka Trump, who works at the White House, chose to post the second most oblivious tweet this week. You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your dad’s immigration practices, you feckless cunt! He listens to you! . Put on something tight and low cut and tell him to fucking stop it. Tell him it was an Obama thing and see how it goes, OK?”

Washington Examiner
Samantha Bee moralizes. More than most comedians, even in this grating era of sanctimony, she uses her platform to lecture, to unload political rants with the voice of America's Moral Authority.

Sometimes it's funny, usually it's not. But she's the latest and greatest in a long line of entertainment industry stars who zealously claim the moral high ground with a sense of confidence substantiated mostly by the approval of other liberals in the media. [...]

Making feminism the foundation of your deliberately didactic routine, then dropping the c-word to describe the first daughter, isn't a good way to convince people of your credibility. And it's pretty terrible public relations for the already-narrow movement you purport to represent.

Hollywood's moral credibility has already been shattered. The past year has clarified what many people already suspected, that the people most intent on using their platform to lecture the rest of us are much better at talking the talk than walking the walk.

So if the standard is shows need to be canceled for saying 'offensive' things, why does Samantha Bee still have a show? Why do we have re-runs of Smallville? Why is Disney still in business when it hires pedophiles to work on kids shows? Why? Why? Why? So many questions and so few answers.

When you look into this double standard even further, Samantha Bee didn't just make those comments in an impromtu moment of passion. No her comments were written, pre-approved, filmed, edited and THEN Aired on television. And to ad icing on the cake, Bee received an 'award' the next day for a "Social Change Award". The only thing more ironic would be if Samantha was touted as the modern day Feminist hero!

Oh Wait...

Wave the feminist banner high! Sister friend is a woman I'm happy to have as a voice for feminism.

Bee got her start on The Daily Show as the first permanent female staffer, where she was correspondent who made us laugh (and think, yo!) for twelve years.

Talk about loyal.

Now has her own AMAZING show over on TBS called Full Frontal and it is running veritable circles in the ratings around Trevor Noah's incarnation of The Daily Show. [...]

Her outside perspective and her passion for history, government, and social sciences make her the perfect commentator on the madness that is the American political news cycle and media in general.

Samantha even claims to be a feminist:

My mother's a feminist. ... I think that I was steeped in feminism from an early age. It's just in my DNA. It's not something we ever really talked about that much or congratulated each other for. It just is part of who I am. I think it's part of who my daughters are. ...

I also watched female comedians killing it on television every day, because I grew up in the '70s when you watched TV when you ate dinner. TV was your best friend and your baby sitter, but I would sit and watch The Carol Burnett Show, I Love Lucy, SCTV [Second City TV], Catherine O'Hara, Andrea Martin — there was no shortage of strong female performers making their way in comedy.

So the question is ladies, where is your outrage? Why aren't there any feminist women attacking Samantha for being such a wretched sexist bigot? These are rhetorical questions and the answers are obvious.

In Before "Republicans who voted for President Donald Trump but are outraged by Samantha Bee bring hypocrisy to a whole new level."

No. This is about holding Samantha to account for her actions. Republicans knew that Donald Trump was a womanizer and still voted him into office not because of it but despite it. Samantha Bee claimed to be a feminist who up holds and defends women and turns around and calls women she disagrees with the most vulgar word in the dictionary; "cunts". That's the hypocrisy that is at issue. Roseanne (who is a liberal) makes a tweet that is considerably less offensive and loses a NUMBER 1 show, but nothing happens to Bee? Hmm...
