SEARHC Recognized for Meeting State’s Healthy Alaskans 2020 Goals

JUNEAU, June 5, 2018 — SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) is proud to have been recently recognized by the Alaska Immunization Program for meeting their Healthy Alaskans 2020 (HA2020) goals in 2017.

SEARHC’s Ethel Lund Medical Center in Juneau and Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital in Sitka were each successful in meeting or exceeding the State’s HA2020 immunization goal with a coverage rate of at least 75% of 30 patients or more.

The State’s combined goal for its Healthy Alaskans 2020 and Healthy People 2020 is to increase the percentage of children aged 19 to 35 months who receive the ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices) recommended vaccination series.

“’Providing the best healthcare for our communities’ is SEARHC’s stated Mission, and there is no better foundation for that than immunizing children against preventable childhood diseases,” said SEARHC President and CEO, Charles Clement. “We look forward to ensuring that as many children as possible in Southeast Alaska have the opportunity to be protected from what could otherwise be so devastating.”

While there is a standard schedule for childhood immunizations set by the State of Alaska and CDC for most children, your child’s pediatrician or primary healthcare provider may recommend an alternative schedule that best suits his or her health needs.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to discuss the appropriate immunization schedule for their child with their child’s medical provider.
