Klawock Boil Water Notice Extended [August 21]

Klawock Mayor Lawrence Armour writes:

Thank you for your patience with the boil water notice. I want you to know that I will always err on the side of caution. The most recent notice went out because our polymer pump went out. We never put any bad water into the system. All water that has gone out to the general public has been GOOD water. If you don't feel well, it isn't due to the water. The DEC guidelines are precautionary. I cannot speak to whether or not those guidelines have been followed strictly in the past, all I can tell you is that they will be followed strictly while I am in office and your health and safety is my responsibility.

This boil water notice has run into the scheduled removal of the wooden water storage tank next to the City Hall. This new boil water notice is based on the recommendations of the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) and the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation. ANTHC is conducting the storage tank removal, and they are experts in water systems. They will be coordinating with DEC to get this notice cleared as soon as possible.

Follow the boil water notices, they are in place to protect you.
