On April 6, 2019 at about 5:41PM, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation. The driver was identified as 63 year old Thorne Bay resident Thomas Owen. Owen was issued a misdemeanor citation for No Liability Insurance.

Type: Take Sitka Blacktail Deer Closed Season

On 4-9-2019 the Alaska Wildlife Troopers investigated multiple Sitka Blacktail Deer that were recently shot and killed near Brown Mountain road. The Ketchikan Wildlife Troopers are seeking any information about this incident or any knowledge of individuals in possession of fresh taken deer in or near Ketchikan. On April 10, 2019 at approximately 0830 hrs, AST responded to Totem Bight State Park, for the report of suspicious individuals on the Park grounds. Upon arrival, AST contacted 34 year old, Mark Hill of Arizona. Subsequent investigation revealed Hill was under the influence of alcoholic beverages and in possession of a loaded firearm. Hill was taken into custody for Misconduct Involving Weapons in the Fourth Degree and transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center. Hill was held until sober enough to be released on his own recognizance.

On 4/11/2019, at approximately 0015 hrs, Alaska State Troopers responded to a disturbance at a residence off BearBerry Lane. Investigation revealed 47 year old, Shawn Kilbury of Ketchikan, had physically assaulted a family member. Kilbury departed the residence prior to AST arrival, but was later located and taken into custody for Assault in the Fourth Degree, involving domestic violence. Kilbury was transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center, where he was held without bail pending arraignment.

On 4/11/2019, at approximately 0440 hrs, Alaska State Troopers responded to a disturbance at the Refuge Cove Marina. Investigation revealed 48 year old, Christopher Bevis of Ketchikan, had physically assaulted a family member. Bevis departed the area prior to AST arrival, but was later located and taken into custody for Assault in the Fourth Degree, involving domestic violence. Bevis was transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center, where he was held without bail pending arraignment.

Type: Fail to salvage Mountain Goat meat

On 3-14-2019 John Veit, 63 of Fairbanks, pled guilty to one count of fail to salvage the edible meat of a Mountain Goat and one count of bringing the hide and horns of that Mountain Goat out of the field before the edible meat. This incident took place inside the Deer Mountain drawing hunt area during the fall of 2017. Veit was sentenced in the District Court in Ketchikan to a total of $6300 in fines, two years of hunting revocation including not to be in the field with any other hunters during that time, two years probation with the conditions not to commit any fish and wildlife violations, and forfeiture of the Mountain Goat.
