Type: No Liability Insurance

On May 11, 2019 at about 3:20PM, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island conducted a traffic stop after observing someone driving whose license was suspended. Investigation revealed that the driver, 23 year William Conway, did not have liability insurance for the vehicle. Conway was arrested and transported to the Craig Jail where he was remanded and released for No Liability Insurance. Conway was issued citations for Driving While License Suspended and Expired Registration.

On 5-11-19 at approximately 2220 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance at Signal Creek Campground. Investigation revealed Alexander Jones, age 20 of Ketchikan, assaulted another by placing them in fear of imminent physical injury. Jones was arrested and remanded to the Ketchikan Correctional Center without incident. Alcohol was a factor.

On 05/11/2019 at about 1833 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence in the 800 Block of Water Street for Parole Arrest warrant service. AST searched the residence and located and arrested Clark Falkner, age 44 of Ketchikan on an outstanding no bail Parole Arrest Warrant. Falkner was found hiding underneath a mattress inside the residence. Further investigation revealed with the assistance of SDEU and K-9 Misty that a 32 year old female found inside the residence was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine with intent to sale. Charges are being forwarded to the District Attorney's on the female. Case is still under investigation. AST would like to thank Ketchikan Police Department for their assistance at the scene. Falkner was transported and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with No Bail.

Correction: Louis Botha, 46-year-old male, from San Diego, California.

The deceased individuals from the plane crash that occurred on 5/13/2019, near Ketchikan, Alaska, are identified as follows:

- Randy Sullivan, 46-year-old male, pilot, from Ketchikan, Alaska.

- Simon Bodie, 56-year-old male from Tempe, New South Wales, Australia.

- Cassandra Webb, 62-year-old female from Saint Louis, Missouri.

- Ryan Wilk, 39-year-old male, from Utah.

- Louis Botha, 46-year-old male, from San Diego, California.

- Elsa Wilk, 37-year-old female, from Richmond, British Columbia, Canada.

Next of kin notifications have been made. The Canadian and Australian Consulates have been notified of the incident. The NTSB is investigating the cause of the crash.

Type: Escape Mechanism Violation

On 5/9/19 at 1040 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers located a personal use dungy pot in the marine waters of 12-Mile Arm. The pot did not have the required biodegradable escape mechanism. Investigation revealed that the pot was being fished by Joshua Ritchey, age 42 of Hollis. Ritchey was issued an AUC for not having the required Escape Mechanism as required by 5AAC77.010(m).

On 5/15/2019, AWT in Ketchikan issued citations to Scott Nall, 61 of Ketchikan, for failing to have biodegradable escapement mechanisms and buoy markings on his personal use shrimp gear. Each citation has a set bail of $120.00.

On May 16, 2019 at about 2:00AM, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island received a report of a deceased person in Hydaburg. The decedent was identified as 62 year Klawock resident Ricky Miller. Next of kin was on scene. The investigation revealed Miller died of natural causes from a long term illness and was released to his family.

On 5/16/2019 at 2220 hours, Prince of Wales State Troopers responded to Hydaburg for a reported disturbance. Investigation revealed that 24 year old Moses Nix of Hydaburg had assaulted a family member. Nix was arrested for assault in the fourth degree (domestic violence), and remanded to the Craig Jail pending arraignment.

On 5-17-19 at approximately 2109 hours, the Alaska State Troopers contacted Anna Walker, age 33 of Ketchikan at a residence on Dunton St. Investigation revealed Walker had an arrest warrant for $50, for Harassment II and Disorderly Conduct. Walker was arrested and remanded to the Ketchikan Correctional Center without incident.
