Location: Ketchikan

Type: Sport fishing too many lines

On 6-17-2019 the Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited Timothy Hyde (63) of Florida for sport fishing with too many lines. This violation has a set fine of $120 and an optional court appearance in the First Judicial District Court in Ketchikan.

Type: No biodegradable escape mechanism

On 06/17/2019 James J Jeffries 67 YOA of Anacortes Washington, was cited for of operating a Dungeness crab pot without a biodegradable escape mechanism. Jeffries was cited after his Dungeness crab pot was located fishing in violation in the waters of Port Stewart near Ketchikan. Bail is set at $120 in the Ketchikan Court.

Type: Fail to remove bait and equipment from Black bear bait station

On 6-25-2019 the Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited Russell Page (38) of Ketchikan for failing to remove the bait and equipment from a registered Black bear bait station by June 15, 2019. This is a strict liability violation that requires a mandatory court appearance in the First Judicial District Court in Ketchikan.

Type: False statements on sport fishing license

On 6-25-2019 the Alaska Wildlife Troopers issued a summons to Thomas Frein (30) of Ketchikan for knowingly making a false statement on a 2019 “resident” sport fishing license. This is a misdemeanor offense that requires a mandatory appearance in the First Judicial District Court in Ketchikan.

On 6-25-2019 the Alaska Wildlife Troopers also Jan Frein (29) of Ketchikan for making a false statement on a 2019 “resident” sport fishing license. This violation carries a set fine of $320 and does not require an appearance in the First Judicial District Court in Ketchikan.

Type: Escape ring violation

On 6/25/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales Island located two dungeness crab pots in the marine waters of the Klawock Inlet that were being fished by Eric Koch, age 54 of Craig, Alaska. The pots did not have escape rings as required by regulation. Koch was issued a citation for the escape ring violation.

Type: Buoy marking and escape mechanism violations

On 6/25/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales Island located two dungeness crab pots in the marine waters of the Klawock Inlet that were being fished by Barclay Tollefson, age 29 of Washington State. The pots did not have the buoy markings or biodegradable escape mechanisms as required by regulation. Tollefson was issued a citation for each of the violations.

Location: Naukati Bay

Type: VCOR/Violating a DVPO

On 6/29/2019, Prince of Wales Troopers were notified of a potential violation of a Domestic Violence Protection Order, (DVPO) which occurred in Naukati Bay. Investigation revealed that 34 year old Tanya Burchfield committed the offence of violating conditions of release and violating the DVPO. Burchfield was arrested and remanded to the Craig Jail pending arraignment.

Type: Waste of sport caught fish

On 6-29-2019 the Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited Matthew Pilotte (44) of Ketchikan for wasting sport caught fish when he was observed throwing a whole rockfish to an Eagle while trolling the waters near Ketchikan. This offense requires a mandatory court appearance in the First Judicial District Court in Ketchikan.
