On 8/10/2019 at 1630 hours, Prince of Wales State Troopers contacted 29 year old Curtis Looper at a residence in Naukati Bay. Looper was arrested on an outstanding warrant, transported to the Craig Jail and remanded on $500 bail.

On 8/10/2019 at 1315 hours, Prince of Wales State Troopers were notified of a single vehicle motor vehicle crash near Naukati Bay. Investigation revealed a 17 year old from Naukati Bay was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado south on North Island Road at excessive speeds. Due to the manner of driving, the teenage driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to enter the ditch and roll partially against a rock wall. The crash totaled the vehicle estimated to be $13,000. The driver was issued a citation for negligent driving.

On 8-4-19 at approximately 1236 hours, the Alaska State Troopers, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, US Coast Guard, and US Forestry Law Enforcement responded to a vessel in the waters north of Pennock Island to a report of a disturbance. Investigation revealed that James Bullock, age 48 of Ketchikan, had assaulted another person onboard the vessel. Bullock was arrested for three counts of Assault IV (DV) and remanded to the Ketchikan Correctional Center without incident. Alcohol was a factor.

On 08/03/19, the Alaska State Troopers’ Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit in Ketchikan with the assistance of K-9 Misty, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and the Ketchikan Police Department arrested Christian Mathers (age 21 of Ketchikan) for Attempted Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree and for Violation of Conditions of Release for a pending felony charge. Mathers was arrested without incident after he attempted to take possession of a parcel that contained 31.9 gross grams of heroin. Mathers was remanded at the Ketchikan Correctional Center without bail pending arraignment on 08/04/19.

On 8-5-19 at approximately 1402 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of an assault on a boat anchored in Calm Cove. Investigation revealed Gary Ward, age 59 of Ketchikan assaulted another by punching them in the face. Ward was arrested and remanded to the Ketchikan Correctional Center without incident. Alcohol was a factor.

On 8/6/2019 at 1102 hours, Prince of Wales State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2002 Jeep near Hydaburg for a moving violation. The driver, 45 year old Gerald Peele of Hydaburg was discovered to have a revoked drivers license. Investigation revealed Peele to have multiple convictions for similar offenses. Peele was issued a criminal citation for Driving While License Revoked (DWLR), given a future court date and released.

On 8-5-19 at approximately 2150 hours, received a report from the Salmon Falls Lodge that a vehicle had struck a building and a totem pole causing damage. Investigation revealed Brian Johnston jr, age 52 of Ketchikan was operating a motor vehicle under the influence when he struck the building and totem. Johnston was arrested and transported to the Ketchikan Trooper Post for Datamaster. Johnston refused to provide a breath sample and was remanded to the Ketchikan Correctional Center on the charges of Driving Under the Influence and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.

On 8/9/2019 at 0530 hours, Prince of Wales State Troopers responded to Hydaburg for a reported assault. On-scene investigation determined that Hydaburg resident Joey Adams assaulted a family member. Adams was arrested and remanded to the Craig Jail pending arraignment.

On 8/9/2019 at 1700 hours, Prince of Wales State Troopers contacted 42 year old, Naukati Bay resident Heather McDonald in Naukati Bay. McDonald was being served with a Grand Jury Indictment/Summons for felony DUI that occurred on 8/3/2019. McDonald was found to be violating the conditions of release by consuming alcohol. McDonald was arrested and remanded to the Craig Jail pending arraignment.

On 08/06/2019 at about 2236 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance in the area of mile 2 of the South Tongass Highway. During the investigation AST contacted and arrested Floyd Jackson, age 53 of Ketchikan for Violating Conditions of Release set by the Ketchikan Courthouse after he was found to have consumed alcohol which was in violation. The original charges stem from Violating a DVPO, Resisting Arrest, and VCOR. Jackson was remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with No Bail.

On 8-2-2019 the Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited Warren Lee (48) of Ketchikan for failing to mark personal use taken sockeye salmon before leaving the fishing site. This offense has a set bail of $95 and does not require an appearance in the First Judicial District Court at Ketchikan.

On 07/29/2019, Zachary D Greene (25 YOA), of Chubbuck Idaho was cited by Alaska Wildlife Troopers Ketchikan Post for retaining an over limit of Yellow Eye rockfish. Greene was cited after he was contacted by NMFS officers at Clover Pass resort. Investigation revealed while acting as a sport fishing guide Greene retained an over limit of Yellow Eye rockfish for his nonresident fishing clients. Total bail is set at $200.00 in the Ketchikan District Court.

On 08/04/2019, Rosemarie Flores (52 YOA), of Ketchikan was cited by Alaska Wildlife Troopers Ketchikan Post for retaining snagged pink salmon. Flores was cited after she was contacted while fishing on Ketchikan creek. Investigation revealed Flores had retained a pink salmon that was hooked in the belly. Bail is set at $140.00 in the Ketchikan District Court.

The investigation led to McDonald being arrested for felony DUI and driving on a revoked license. She was transported and remanded to the Craig Jail with a mandatory appearance in the Prince of Wales District Court.

She was issued a citation for retaining non-pelagic rockfish while the season was closed to the retention of them. She has an optional appearance in the Prince of Wales District Court with bail set at $140.

The contact led to Tanner Mackiewicz, 37of Washington State, being issued a citation for sport fishing with two or more lines. He has an optional appearance in the Prince of Wales District Court with bail set at $120.
