Type: Warrant Arrest

On September 20, 2019, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island were in Hydaburg attempting to arrest Paul Washington Jr on his felony warrants. In the process, troopers saw 35 year old Jamal Travis at the adjacent residence. Troopers knew Travis also had a warrant for his arrest. When Travis saw the troopers, he began running. After a short foot pursuit, Travis was arrested and transported to the Craig Jail on his arrest warrant with the original charge of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance III. Paul Washington Jr eluded troopers during this process and still has active warrants for his arrest.

UPDATE

On September 23, 2019, arrest warrants were issued for 23 year old Drakkar Smith, of Klawock, in regards to this incident. Drakkar was remanded to the Craig Jail the same day for five counts of Criminal Mischief III, one count of Theft II, one count of Theft III, and one count of Theft IV. Bail was set at $5,500.00. Investigation into the case is still ongoing.

On September 15, 2019, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island received multiple reports of persons having their gas tanks drilled out and items stolen from their vehicles at Island Air Express. Over the past week, multiple search warrants have been executed and some of the stolen items have been recovered. The case is still under investigation and a suspect has been identified. On 9-23-19 at approximately 0955 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Ketchikan responded to a family disturbance at a residence near mile 10 of the North Tongass Highway. Investigation revealed that Maria Stamm, age 37 of Ketchikan, had shattered the sliding glass door of the residence with a crowbar. The estimated cost of damage is $500. Stamm was arrested for Criminal Mischief IV (DV) and transported the Ketchikan Correctional Center without incident.

Type: Subsistence fishing in Closed Waters

On 9/11/19 at 1210 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales Island contacted five individuals who were subsistence seining for Coho salmon in the Klawock river drainage, upstream from the Klawock river bridge. These waters are closed for subsistence fishing per regulation 5AAC01.725(a)(1). The five individuals were identified as Marvin George (age 66), Thomas Leask (age 49), Bradley Kato (age 32), Michael Kennedy Jr (age 20), and Kagan Smith (age 20) all of Klawock. AWT seized 68 Coho salmon that the group had caught in the closed waters. All five individuals were issued an Alaska Uniform Citation (AUC) for the charge of Subsistence fishing in closed waters.

On 9/23/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales Island cited Andrew Wolford, age 31 of Klawock, for one count of False Statement on an Application for a Hunting License. On 7/29/19, Wolford had purchased a resident Alaska hunting license when he did not meet the Alaska residency requirements.

On 09/22/2019, Robert W Patten, age 54, of Craig Alaska, was cited by Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Ketchikan Post, for hunting without a 2019 hunting license in possession. Patten was cited after he was contacted while hunting near Leask Lake without a 2019 hunting license in possession. Bail is set at $270 in the Ketchikan district Court.

On 9-27-19 at approximately 1526 hours, Michael Baham , age 33 of Ketchikan, was contacted at a residence in the 1100 block of Park Avenue. Baham was subsequently arrested on a warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Tampering With Evidence and a warrant for Petition to Revoke Probation on the original charge of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance III. Baham was transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center without incident.

On 9-27-19 at approximately 1500 hours, the Alaska State Troopers, Ketchikan Police Department and Judicial Services attempted to locate Michael Baham, age 33 of Ketchikan, for two outstanding warrants. Officers contacted Courtney Thompson, age 29 of Ketchikan, and Ernestine Ellis, age 60 of Ketchikan, at a residence in the 1100 block of Park Avenue. Both denied repeatedly that Baham was inside the residence and were given a hindering warning. Subsequent investigation revealed that Baham was inside the residence. Thompson and Ellis were arrested for Hindering Prosecution in the 1st Degree and transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center without incident.

On 09/26/2019 at about 2025 hours, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of a vehicle in the ditch in the 100 Block of Cranberry Road. Investigation revealed that the driver Judith Raymond, age 63 of Ketchikan was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Raymond was arrested and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center.
