Location: Ketchikan

Type: Assault IV (DV)

On 5-16-20 at approximately 1134 hours, the Alaska State Troopers and Ketchikan Police Department responded to a residential 911 disturbance near mile 8 of the North Tongass Highway. Investigation revealed that Mathew Martinez, age 36 of Ketchikan, had assaulted a family member. Martinez was arrested for Assault IV (DV) and transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center and held without bail.

On 05/18/2020, Alaska State Troopers from the Ketchikan Post arrested Matthew Martinez (age 36 of Ketchikan) for Violation of Conditions of Release and Unlawful Contact in the First Degree for being in direct contact with the victim of the domestic violence case for which he was out of bail. Martinez was remanded at the Ketchikan Correctional Center without bail pending arraignment on 05/19/2020.

Type: Escape Ring Violation

On 5/17/20, AWT located and seized a personal use dungy pot in the Klawock Inlet that did not have the required escape rings per 5AAC77.662(5). Investigation revealed that the pot was being fished by Joleen Jackman, age 33 of Craig. Jackman was cited for one count of improper escape rings, and her gear was returned.

On May 18, 2020, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island responded to a report of a deceased person in Craig. Investigation revealed 58 year old Scott Hill died of natural causes. Next of kin was on scene and his remains were released to the family.

On 5/20/2020, Prince of Wales State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 1999 Toyota pickup after recognizing the driver as someone who's drivers license is revoked. 48 year-old David Williams of Klawock was arrested for driving while license revoked. Furthermore, Williams was placed on conditions of release on 5/11/2020 for the original charge of driving while revoked. Williams was transported to the Craig Jail and remanded for DWLR and VCOR.

Type: DUI; Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the First Degree

On 05/19/2020, at approximately 2121 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to mile marker 13 of the North Tongass Highway to investigate the report of a single vehicle rollover with injuries. The North Tongass Volunteer Fire Department responded to provide medical care and traffic control. Investigation revealed that Devin Saxton (age 34 of Ketchikan) was driving southbound when he reported swerving across the oncoming lane of travel to avoid deer in the roadway. The vehicle lost control when it drove into the opposing ditch and rolled over at least once. An eleven-year-old child was in the vehicle and sustained minor injuries as did Saxton. Both reported wearing seatbelts. The vehicle sustained significant damage and appears to be a total loss. Saxton was arrested for DUI and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the First Degree after investigation revealed that Saxton was intoxicated by alcohol at the time of the collision. Saxton was remanded at the Ketchikan Correctional Center.

On 5/17/2020 the Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited Sandra Coats (42) of Ketchikan for failing to have the proper buoy markings on her personal use crab gear. This violation carries a set fine of $120 and does not require an appearance in the First Judicial District Court in Ketchikan.

On 05/21/2020 at about 2043 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a Domestic Disturbance at a residence on Forest Park Drive. Investigation revealed that Michael Guthrie, age 31 of Ketchikan assaulted a family member. Further investigation revealed the Guthrie prevented the person from calling 911 and reporting a DV crime. Guthrie was also found to be on current conditions of release set by the Ketchikan Courthouse reference the original charge of Assault 4 DV. Guthrie was not to reside with the person and was not to consume alcohol, all in which he violated. Guthrie was arrested for Assault in the 4th Degree DV, Interfering with a Report of a DV crime, and two counts of VCOR. Guthrie was remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with No Bail.

On 05/23/2020 at about 1853 hours, AST conducted a traffic stop on a grey Pontiac at mile 6 of the North Tongass Highway. Investigation revealed that the driver Paul Bermudez Jr, age, 23 of Ketchikan was operating a motor vehicle with a Suspended driver's license. Further investigation revealed that Bermudez Jr. had one prior convictions for DWLS and had been previously advised that his license was Suspended. Bermudez Jr. was issued a Summons for DWLS.

On 05/23/2020 at about 1903 hours, AST conducted a traffic stop on a red Jetta in the 400 Block of Jackson Street. Investigation revealed that the driver Michael Hosley, age 27 of Ketchikan had an outstanding warrant for his arrest reference FTA to Hearing from the original charge of Reckless Driving. Hosley was arrested and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with bail set at $250.00.
