Location: Ketchikan

Type: DUI

Dispatch Text:

On 04/18/2021 at about 0058 hours, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a red Mercury for a moving violation near the 2500 Block of Tongass Avenue.  Investigation revealed that the driver Michael Callaway, age 24 from West Virginia was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of Alcohol.  Callaway was arrested for DUI and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center.  Further investigation revealed that Callaway was twice the legal limit.  AST would like to thank Ketchikan Police Department for their assistance with the investigation.

On 04/17/2021 at about 2334 hours, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a Dodge Journey at about mile 2 of the South Tongass Highway.  The vehicle was stopped for speeding.  Investigation revealed that the driver Christopher Bevis, age 50 of Ketchikan was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of Alcohol.  Bevis was arrested for DUI and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center.

Type: Closed season yellow eye rockfish retention

On 4/18/2021 the Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited Walker Straight (18) of Ketchikan for retaining a yellow-eye rockfish while sportfishing.  The season for yellow eye rockfish is closed.  This offense carries a set fine of $140 and does not require a mandatory court appearance in the First Judicial Court in Ketchikan.

Type: Assault III/DUI/MIW4/VCOR

On 4/23/2021, Prince of Wales State Troopers responded to 11-mile Klawock Highway for a reported disturbance. Investigation resulted in the arrest of 49-year-old Klawock resident Jason Fitch for Assault III, DUI, MIW 4, and VCOR. It was revealed Fitch drove to a neighbors residence, and pointed a loaded firearm at the neighbor. A struggle over the firearm ensued causing the firearm to discharge. The neighbor was able to disarm Fitch without any injuries to either person. Fitch was remanded to the Craig Jail. More charges are anticipated against Fitch.
