On 6-24-2021 the Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited, Jared Oien (34) of Ketchikan for not having a client immediately log a Ling Cod while acting as a sport fishing charter guide. This offense has a set bail/fine of $120 and does not require a mandatory court appearance in the First Judicial District Court in Ketchikan.

On 06/27/2021 at approximately 1731 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of an unattended death near Neptune Drive in Coffman Cove. Investigation revealed Clayton Smalley, age 63 of Coffman Cove, died of natural causes. No foul play is suspected, the remains were released to family members. Next of kin have been notified.
