Earlier in the week, the By the Sea Arts and Seafood Festival committee decided to cancel the event for the second year in a row. Their official statement was:
There was an overwhelming concern regarding the increase in Covid + in the community. The board and the committee members voted to cancel.
A board member who disagreed with this decision (due to a lack of community input) is organizing a "Crafters Market" in it's place:
The outcry from community members and vendors from the shut-down of the 2021 Festival was overwhelming. Everyone wanted to pull something together and see those who feel comfortable be able to share their gifts and shop.
So we would like to have a Crafters Market, on Saturday, August 14th, 10a-4pm(?), at the Coffman Cove Ballfield or other location depending on number of vendors. More details will be posted soonThis will be a BYOT (canvas tent, table, trunk, truck bed, or trailer) to showcase your goodies, as we are not allowed to use anything- tents, tables, chairs, from the festival. There is a covered pavilion with picnic tables also to set up for those who need… first come basis. We can line vehicles and tables up further through the parking lot. And have consumers park in a different area. Electric plug ins will be very limited.
This is a great opportunity to come together as a community and support local artists and crafters, hope to see you there!
