On 2/17/16 at approximately 0925 hours, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales Island received a report of theft from Southeast Roadbuilders. The complainant reported that at some point during the past four months, an unknown individual had stolen approximately 100’ of heavy copper wiring from their rock crusher that was stored near mile 31 of the North Island Road. The value of the wiring is estimated to be approximately $2,000.00. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Alaska State Troopers POW post at 907-826-2918.

UPDATE

Conviction: Shoot big game from a boat

On 2/4/16 Alaska Wildlife Troopers from Prince of Wales Island cited Shawn Yates, 31 YOA, of Klawock for shooting a deer from a boat in an incident that happened 11/19/15. On 2/17/16 Yates was convicted of the offense. The Craig Court fined Yates $1000.00, imposed restitution of $400.00, and revoked his hunting privileges for one year. The hunting revocation was suspended for a period of a year, with a stipulation of no fish and wildlife offenses during that period.

On 2/4/16, Alaska Wildlife Troopers from Prince of Wales Island cited Shawn Yates, 31 YOA, of Klawock for shooting a deer from a boat. The incident took place on 11/19/15 and the investigation resulted from a citizen complaint. Arraignment is set at the Craig District

Type: Warrant Arrest

On 2/19/2016, the Hydaburg VPSO contacted 44 year old Victor Tumulak of Montana in the community of Hydaburg. Tumulak had an outstanding AST warrant for his arrest for the original charge of Assault in the Fourth Degree. Tumulak was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Craig Police Department Jail where he was held on $500 bail. Court is on 2/17/16.
