Location: Hydaburg

AK16037374
Type: Assault-III DV (x2), Criminal Mischief-IV DV, Criminal Mischief-V, Resisting Arrest, Harassment-I.

Dispatch Text:

On 5/24/16 at 0630 hours, the Village Public Safety Officer (VPSO) in Hydaburg received a report of an individual attempting to break down the front door of a residence with a splitting maul. The VPSO responded to the residence and contacted Richard Carle, age 51 of Hydaburg. Carle was highly intoxicated and combative. Investigation revealed that Carle had started a disturbance at the residence and family members had been able to get him outside the residence and lock the door. Carle then smashed the door down with a splitting maul he found outside the residence (causing approximately $500.00 in damages). Once Carle had forced his way back inside the residence, he began threatening to kill both the family members present in the home while still wielding the maul. The VPSO attempted to place Carle under arrest, and Carle forcefully resisted being taken into custody. The VPSO deployed pepper spray and was then able to restrain Carle and get him into the back of his police vehicle. As the VPSO was trying to seatbelt Carle into the vehicle, Carle spit at him and then broke a part of the vehicles partition (valued at approximately $75.00). Carle was transported to the Craig Jail Facility and remanded into their custody without bail.
