Mega-Ship Norwegian Bliss Docks in Ketchikan for the First Time!

Alaska's first ever Mega Cruise Ship (MCS?) Norwegian Bliss docked into Ketchikan Monday, June 4th on it's inaugural trip. Bliss was built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. Construction started on 28 October 2016 and the ship was delivered to NCL on 21 April 2018. The Norwegian Bliss is part of the Breakaway Plus class of cruise ships, and is the sister ship to Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Joy. [Source]

Now...I have to make an admission fam...And please don't judge me..cause I know i'm not the only one...

I don't understand how cruise ships float!

Ok, Ok, I UNDERSTAND THE SCIENCE OF IT (buoyancy and displacement)...I'm just amazed at the incredible engineering and looking at its sheer size, it's mind blowing how the ship simply doesn't sink. AND it was built and delivered in a year and a half! Let's look at the stats.

Tonnage:
168,028 GT
Length: 329.80 m (1,082.0 ft) [or 3 football fields long]
Beam: 41.50 m (136.2 ft)
Draught: 9.00 m (29.53 ft)
Speed: 22.5 knots (42 km/h) (cruising)Capacity: 3,994 lower beds
Crew: 2,100

The main thing that I want to highlight is that THERE IS ONLY 30 FEET OF SHIP BELOW THE OCEAN! Now, I couldn't find the actual height of the ship but it's about 20 stories tall above the surface which is ruffly 200 feet tall. So we have 30 feet of ship holding up 200 FEET! Now what few people think about is that 30 feet below the surface also holds at least 1 story full of fuel, 1 story full of water, then you have a massive amount of sewage PLUS room for the engines and crew space...Incredible!

This ship really is  a luxury craft!
