IFA Veterans Travel Grant Renewed!

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has renewed the transportation grant to the State of Alaska Department of Military & Veterans Affairs, and the State has advised the Inter-Island Ferry Authority that the IFA has been accepted into the Veteran Federal Transportation Grant Program again this year!

Starting October 1, 2018, the IFA has been authorized to issue passenger ticketing to qualifying Veterans traveling in conjunction with healthcare needs. Present your current Alaska Driver License or ID Card with VA endorsement, Armed Forces of the United States ID Card {Retiree}, 100% Disabled American Veteran ID Card or VA Healthcare Card to qualify for this no-cost to Veteran program. Escorts are required to get prior authorization to travel from Forrest Powell. Forrest is the Grant Manager, and Veterans can contact him at 907-334-0872 or forrest.powell@alaska.gov.

For Additional Grant Information, contact Dennis Watson 907-617-2800 or dwatson@interislandferry.com. For Reservation Information:, contact Reservations at 866-308-4848 or 907-225-4848

As usual, DO NOT USE YOUR CAR unless you absolutely have to.  It costs much more money to travel with your vehicle and by walking on you give other fellow Vets more chances to travel.
