Ketchikan Police Report Week of November 17, 2018


On 11/17/18 at approximately 1258 hours, Officers received a report of a drunk driver leaving the Baranof Avenue area. Officers located and stopped the vehicle. The driver, identified as Christopher R. Mowers, age 47, was contacted and displayed signs of impairment. He was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, transported to the state jail and set to be released on his own recognizance.

On 11/19/18 at approximately 0646 hours, an Officer responded to a Second Avenue residence due to a report of a suspicious male trespassing. The Officer contacted Richard W. Wilson, age 35. Mr. Wilson was told he was trespassing and needed to leave. Mr. Wilson promptly kicked the entry door then attempted to strike the Officer with a large wooden skateboard. Mr. Wilson struck the officer in the face and fought with the Officer. Mr. Wilson was arrested for Assault in the Third Degree – Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Trespass in the First Degree and Disorderly Conduct. He was transported to the state jail and held without bail.

On 11/19/18 at approximately 0840 hours, Officers responded to the 3400 block of Tongass Avenue due to a report of shoplifter who ran from a local business. The Officer and an Alaska State Trooper gave chase on foot. The male, identified as Gavan E. Gangle, age 24, continued to run and evade Officers. Several Officers, State Troopers, US Forest Service Law Enforcement and Court Services Officers assisted in the chase. With the assistance of a private citizen, Mr. Gangle was tracked to a federally owned building and located hiding under a tarp. Mr. Gangle was arrested for Theft in the Fourth Degree, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and Disorderly Conduct. He was additionally arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant from a previous domestic assault investigation. He was transported to the state jail and held without bail.

On 11/21/18 at approximately 1300 hours, Officers responded to the 2100 block of Sea Level Drive for a report of a male refusing to leave and being belligerent. Officers contacted Christopher Snook, age 31. Snook was arrested for Disorderly Conduct. He was transported to the state jail and set to be released on his own recognizance.

On 11/21/18 at approximately 2342 hours, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 600 block of Stedman St. for an equipment violation. The operator, David F. Torres, age 33, was found to have conditions of release in a pending case which, stipulate he not drive. Mr. Torres was arrested and transported to the state jail and held on $250.00 bail.

On 11/23/18 at approximately 1420 hours, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 3200 block of Tongass Avenue. David Torres, age 33, was identified as the driver. Mr. Torres was arrested for Violation of Conditions of Release. He was and transported to the state jail and held on $250.00 bail.

On 11/24/18 at approximately 1058 hours, Ashley M. Krantz, age 31, was served a summons in the 1500 block of Water Street. She was ordered to appear in court as a result of a theft investigation.

On 11/24/18 at approximately 1117 hours, Rachel S. Bowman, age 34, was served a summons in the 3800 block of Fairview Avenue. She was ordered to appear in court for the charge of Driving Under the Influence.

On 11/24/18 at approximately 1350 hours, Tommy L. Jones, age 50, was served a summons in the 500 block of Water Street. He was ordered to appear in court due to a violation of his probation.

On 11/25/18 at approximately 2255 hours, Officers responded to the corner of North Tongass Highway and Shoreline Drive for the report of a male laying in the roadway causing a disturbance. Officers contacted Gabreal Easterly, age 39. Mr. Easterly was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Violating Conditions of Release. Mr. Easterly was transported to the state jail and held on $1,000.00 bail.

On 11/26/18 at approximately 0144 hours, Officers contacted Nicholes D. Daniels, age 36, while investigating a noise complaint. Mr. Daniels had an outstanding warrant for Failure to Complete 80 hours Community Work Service in Lieu of Jail Time. Mr. Daniels was arrested and transported to the state jail where he was held without bail.

On 11/26/18 at approximately 1532 hours, Officers contacted Nicholas Bader, age 57, in the 20 block of Creek Street while investigating a disturbance. Mr. Bader was arrested for Violation of Conditions of Release. He was transported to the state jail and held on $250 bail.

On 11/27/18 at approximately 1308 hours, Officers contacted Clara J. Natkong, age 66, and served her a summons to appear in court for the charge of Theft in the Fourth Degree.

On 11/27/18 at approximately 1315 hours, Officers contacted Shawn M. Morey, age 27, and arrested him on an outstanding warrant for Failure to Comply with Conditions of Probation. Mr. Morey was transported to the state jail where he was held without bail.
