Ketchikan Police Report Week of January 24, 2019


On 01/22/19 at approximately 1805 hours, Officers contacted Nicole Diverty, age 34, in the lobby of the police department. Ms. Diverty was served a summons charging her with Theft in the Third Degree. The case stems from an incident that occurred in December 2018.

On 01/23/19 at about 1755 hours, Officer contacted Sandi Edenshaw, age 35, at an apartment building in the 600 block of Park Avenue due to a report of her breaking into an apartment. Ms. Edenshaw had two outstanding arrest warrants. The investigation revealed she had been trespassing and living in an apartment for several weeks without the tenant’s knowledge while the tenant was out of town. Ms. Edenshaw was arrested for the warrants, Criminal Trespass in the First Degree and Violation of Conditions of Release. She was transported to the state jailwhere she was held on $450.00 bail.

On 01/23/19 at approximately 1542 hours, Officers contacted Daniel Charles, age 53, in the 300 block of Front Street due to him yelling loudly and causing a disturbance. Mr. Charles continued causing a disturbance after being verbally warned multiple times for his behavior. He was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and transported to the state jail where he was booked and set to be released on his own recognizance.

On 01/24/19 at approximately 1700 hours Anna M. Peratrovich, age 67, was contacted in the 200 block of Dock Street for a noise complaint. A records check showed Ms. Peratrovich had been served a 5 year trespass on 01/09/2019 for all Tongass Trading Properties. Ms. Peratrovich was arrested for Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree. She was transported to the state jail and set to be released on her own recognizance.

On 01/25/19 at approximately 0822 hours, Officers received a report of a stolen 1997 Subaru Legacy. Officers observed the stolen vehicle driving Northbound in the 2800 block of Tongass Avenue. A records check confirmed the vehicle was stolen and Officers activated their emergency lights and siren and attempted to stop the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle Andrew C. Hanson, age 33, accelerated at a high rate of speed and made a series of turns in an attempt to evade officers. Mr. Hanson was stopped on Tower Road and taken into custody. He was transported to the state jail and booked on Vehicle Theft in the First Degree and Failing to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer in the First Degree. A records check showed Mr. Hanson had a license restriction which required the use of an Ignition Interlock Device. He was found in violation of that restriction and charged with the offense.

On 01/26/19 at approximately 0149 hours, Officers contacted Kelsey Fitzgerald, age 27, at the 1200 block of Tongass Avenue on a traffic stop. Ms. Fitzgerald was investigated driving under the influence. She failed standard field sobriety tests and was arrested for Driving Under the Influence. Ms. Fitzgerald was transported to the state jail and set to be released on her own recognizance.

On 1/27/19 at approximately 2109 hours, Officers responded to the 1000 block of Water Street for a report of a male causing a disturbance. Officers contacted Travis Edenfield, age 30, who was very intoxicated and verbally warned for drunken person on licensed premise. Mr. Edenfieldwalked into a nearby bar and was arrested for Drunken Person on Licensed Premise. He was transported to the state jail and set to be released on his own recognizance.

On 01/28/19 at approximately 0531 hours, Officers responded to a midtown motel due to a report of a disturbance. Robert W. McHenry, age 65, was contacted. He was arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant charging him with two counts of Misconduct Involving Weapons. He was transported to the state jail and held on $500.00 bail.

On 01/28/19 at approximately 2337 hours, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Ketchikan Lakes Road. The driver, Vincent R. Morin, age 30, was contacted and found to be driving on a revoked driver’s license. Mr. Morin was arrested for Violation of Conditions of Release. He had been court ordered not to drive unless he had a valid license. He was transported to the state jail and held on $250.00 bail.

On 01/30/19 at approximately 0850 hours, Michael P. Cox II, age 23, was contacted in the 400 block of Main Street due to a report he was trespassing. Mr. Cox had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Mr. Cox was arrested on the warrant and transported to the state jail where he was held on $50.00 bail.

On 01/30/19 at approximately 1446 hours, Officers responded to the 2400 block of Tongass Avenue and contacted Ni cholas Bader, age 57, due to a report of a disturbance of Mr. Baderyelling obscenities at citizens. Mr. Bader was verbally warned for Disorderly Conduct. Mr. Bader continued to yell obscenities at citizens which was disturbing the peace in the area. Mr. Bader was arrested for Disorderly Conduct. Mr. Bader was also on conditions of release which state he is to obey all laws. He was additionally charged with Violation of Conditions of Release.He was transported to the state jail and held on $250.00 bail.

On 01/30/19 at approximately 1651 hours, Officers responded to the 800 block of Buren Road due to a report of a domestic disturbance. Daniel Shelestun, age 25, was contacted and arrested for one count of Assault in the 4th Degree Domestic Violence. He was transported to the state jail and held with no bail.

On 01/31/19 at approximately 1339 hours, Officers contacted Mitchell Volpi, age 35, in the 300 block of Bawden Street. Mr. Volpi was served a summons charging him with Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree stemming from an October 2018 case.
