Tlingit-Haida Regional Housing Authority Announces the 1st Annual SE Housing Summit

1st ANNUAL SOUTHEAST HOUSING SUMMIT TO BE HELD IN JUNEAU ON MARCH 13-14, 2019

Juneau, Alaska—The Tlingit-Haida Regional Housing Authority (THRHA) is pleased to announce the launch of the First Annual Southeast Housing Summit. This two-day conference will bring together participants from Southeast Alaska who represent a variety of housing-related industries including real estate, local government, mortgage and finance, and tribal management to explore this year’s theme of “Planning Our Future Through Housing.”

“Southeast Alaska is presented with a variety of unique housing obstacles,” said Joyce Niven, Interim THRHA President & CEO. “High housing costs, low inventory, challenges with building and maintaining new properties are just a few examples of the issues we face in working towards sustainable housing in the region. We are hopeful that this Summit will bring together local housing experts, peers, and participants interested in discussing regional housing issues, common challenges, and help identify solutions.”

The Summit is being co-sponsored by Tlingit-Haida Regional Housing Authority, Alaska Electric Light & Power, and the Cold Climate Research Forum. Day one will focus on “Partnerships and Community Building”, and Day two of the Summit will be dedicated to “Planning and Energy”.

“We see this Summit also as a great opportunity for networking and building strong and meaningful partnerships throughout Southeast,” said Niven. The Summit will be held on March 13-14, at the Westmark Baranof Hotel in Juneau, AK.
