On November 2, 2019, at about 3:15PM, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island responded to Thorne Bay after receiving a report of an assault. Investigation revealed 30 year old Jacob Edenfield assaulted a household member and damaged their property. Jacob was arrested for Assault IV DV and Criminal Mischief IV DV. Jacob was transported to the Craig Jail where he was remanded without bail.

On 10/24/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales Island were notified by ADF&G of an issue with several overdue commercial shrimp tickets from the FV Angie Lee. Investigation into the matter revealed that the captain of the FV Angie Lee was Travis Hagen, age 29 of Craig. Hagen had been processing his catch by boxing and freezing his shrimp without the required catcher-processor permit. Hagen had also not been completing shrimp tickets as required by regulation. Hagen was issued two Alaska Uniform Citations for the violations.

On November 5, 2019, at about 8:15AM, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island contacted and arrested 46 year old Kirk Rasmus in Hydaburg in regards to an active warrant for his arrest. Rasmus was transported to the Craig Jail where he was remanded on $1000.00 bail for Violating Conditions of Release.

Text: - On 11-05-2019, while investigating an unrelated matter Alaska State Troopers contacted 30-year-old Jessica Montgomery at a residence in Hydaburg. Montgomery was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Prince of Wales Court, original charges of Forgery. Montgomery was taken into custody without incident and remanded to the Craig jail, bail was set at $500.00.

On 11/04/19, the Alaska State Troopers’ Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit in Ketchikan, with the assistance of K-9 Misty, seized 2.52 grams of heroin and 0.59 grams of methamphetamine from Kevie Frank (age 25 of Hydaburg) prior to her boarding a ferry to Prince of Wales Island. Frank was arrested for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, and was remanded at the Ketchikan Correctional Center without bail pending arraignment. Other involved agencies: Alaska State Troopers’ Patrol in Ketchikan, the Ketchikan Police Department, and the Office of Children’s Services in Ketchikan.

On 11/05/19, the Alaska State Troopers’ Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit in Ketchikan contacted Kirk Allyn Vandoren (age 56 of Sitka) at the Ketchikan International Airport following his arrival on a commercial flight from Seattle. Investigation revealed that Vandoren was smuggling 6.07 grams of heroin and 14.22 grams of methamphetamine inside his body, which he intended to transport to Prince of Wales Island to sale. Vandoren was arrested for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, and was remanded at the Ketchikan Correctional Center without bail pending arraignment. Other involved agencies: the Alaska State Troopers' Judicial Services in Ketchikan, the United States Coast Guard Special Investigative Services, and the Ketchikan Police Department.

Text: - On 11-07-2019, Alaska State Troopers arrested 39-year-old Joey Adams in the village of Hydaburg on an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Prince of Wales Court, original charges of Burglary 2nd, Criminal Mischief 3rd, Possess Burglary Tools, Theft 4th, and VCOR. Adams was a Violation of Conditions of Release. Adams was taken into custody without incident and remanded to the Craig jail, bail was set at $7,500.00.

On 11/06/2019 at about 1607 hours, the Alaska State Troopers were contacted by a business located at Mile 11 of the North Tongass Highway after they found a male on surveillance camera entering their property and stealing property. A suspect and vehicle were immediately identified. At about 2010 hours, the vehicle and suspect who was identified as Scott Devlin, age 44 of Ketchikan was found parked at a closed business parking lot. Devlin was arrested for Attempted Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Trespass in the 1st Degree, Theft in the 4th Degree and VCOR. Devlin was found to be on current conditions of release set by the Ketchikan Courthouse reference the original offense of Criminal Trespass in the 2nd Degree. Devlin was transported and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center.

Type: Escape Mechanism and Escape Ring Violations

Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales Island located two personal use dungy pots that were each attached to buoys marked with the name K. Collins, while on patrol in the marine waters of Coffman Cove. The pots had escape ring and biodegradable escape mechanism violations. Investigation revealed that the pots were being fished by Kurt Collins, age 59 of Coffman Cove. Collins was issued AUC's for the Escape Ring and Biodegradable escape mechanism violations, and the pots were returned.

On 11-8-19 at approximately 1450 hours, the Alaska State Troopers and South Tongass Fire Department responded to a single vehicle rollover near mile 3 of the South Tongass Highway. Investigation revealed that Rileigh Ballesteros, age 17 of Ketchikan, was operating a 2003 Chevy Tracker heading southbound on South Tongass Highway. She moved over as a precaution to go around a vehicle parked off the roadway with its hazard lights on. An oncoming vehicle was observed on a curve and Ballesteros abruptly moved back into her lane. Due to heavy ongoing rain, the vehicle hydroplaned and slid off the roadway and down an embankment. The vehicle rolled over and came to rest against the side of a residence. Both were reportedly wearing seatbelts with the passenger reporting minor scrapes and abrasions on his arms. Ballesteros was transported by family to the Ketchikan Hospital as a precaution. The vehicle was totaled and towed by Purdy's Towing. Speed and alcohol were not a factor.
