Meth Parcel Headed for a Logging Camp on POW Seized [And Trooper Report Wk of Dec. 8th]

On 12/04/19, the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Alaska State Troopers’ Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit in Ketchikan seized 40.95 grams of methamphetamine from a parcel destined for Tamara Hagara (age 32 of Washington State) at a logging camp located in Keete Inlet, which is in remote Southern Prince of Wales Island near Hydaburg. On 12/06/19, the Alaska State Troopers’ Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit in Ketchikan with the assistance of K-9 Misty and Alaska Wildlife Troopers and Alaska State Troopers from the Prince of Wales Trooper Post served a search warrant at the logging camp, which resulted in the seizure of small amounts of methamphetamine and evidence of drug distribution as well as the arrest of Tamara Hagara and Ramona Collins (age 23 of Klawock) for Attempted Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree. Collins was also arrested for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree for possession of methamphetamine. While at the logging camp, Kolton Tipton (age 31 of Klawock) was also arrested for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree and for violating the conditions of his felony probation after investigation revealed that he was in possession of methamphetamine (within ten years of a prior conviction for drug possession) and other contraband items, cross reference incident AK19085618. Hagara, Collins, and Tipton were transported to the Craig Jail where they were remanded without bail pending arraignment.

On 12/12/2019 at approximately 0730 hours, Prince of Wales State Troopers received a report that the Tongass Federal Credit Union Branch Office in Hydaburg was burglarized and an ATM Machine was stolen. Approximately $5000 damage was caused to the school and bank office, and a yet determined amount of cash was stolen. Suspects have been identified. Anyone with further information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the Alaska State Troopers at 826-2918.

Type: Take Undersize Commercial King Salmon, No CFEC permit in Possession

On 12/12/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Sitka Post contacted Guthrie H. Zastrow, age 47 of Ketchikan, commercial power trolling near Ernest Sound. Investigation revealed Zastrow had retained four king salmon less than the 28 inch minimum size and did not have his commercial fishing permit in possession to operate the gear. Zastrow was cited for retaining undersize commercial king salmon and failing to have a CFEC permit in actual possession. An arraignment is set in the District Court at Ketchikan.
