END OF THE WORLD! Cruise Ship Travel Warning

Amid the Wuhan Corona-chan hysteria, the US State Department issued an advisory for traveling on cruise ships:

U.S. citizens, particularly travelers with underlying health conditions, should not travel by cruise ship. CDC notes increased risk of infection of COVID-19 in a cruise ship environment. In order to curb the spread of COVID-19, many countries have implemented strict screening procedures that have denied port entry rights to ships and prevented passengers from disembarking. In some cases, local authorities have permitted disembarkation but subjected passengers to local quarantine procedures. While the U.S. government has evacuated some cruise ship passengers in recent weeks, repatriation flights should not be relied upon as an option for U.S. citizens under the potential risk of quarantine by local authorities.

This is a fluid situation. CDC notes that older adults and travelers with underlying health issues should avoid situations that put them at increased risk for more severe disease. This entails avoiding crowded places, avoiding non-essential travel such as long plane trips, and especially avoiding embarking on cruise ships. Passengers with plans to travel by cruise ship should contact their cruise line companies directly for further information and continue to monitor the Travel.state.gov website and see the latest information from the CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/cruise/index.html.

The origins of the term 'hysteria'

While the word hysteria originates from the Greek word for uterus, hystera (ὑστέρα), the word itself is not an ancient one, and the term "hysterical suffocation" – meaning a feeling of heat and inability to breathe, was instead used in ancient Greek medicine. The Greeks believed that the uterus moves through a woman's body, eventually strangling her and inducing disease.[3] This suggests an entirely physical cause for the symptoms but, by linking them to the uterus, suggests that the disorder can only be found in women.

Historically, hysteria was thought to manifest itself in women (female hysteria) with a variety of symptoms, including: anxiety, shortness of breath, fainting, insomnia, irritability, nervousness, as well as sexually forward behaviour.[5] These symptoms mimic symptoms of other more definable diseases and create a case for arguing against the validity of hysteria as an actual disease, and it is often implied that it is an umbrella term for an indefinable illness

Basically it's the end of the world for Alaska! The only cure is to stock up on hand-sanitizer and toilet paper!

What that lady really needs to do is simply buy some newspapers, that comes in real handy in a tight spot, I particularly enjoy the sports section and use it all up when the Seahawks have a bad week! True story and if that doesn't work then I suggest Making Toilet Paper Grater Again:

To make matters even more apocalyptic there's an oil war between Russia and Saudi Arabia, WHO COULD HAVE PREDICTED THIS!

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Crude prices suffered their biggest daily rout since the 1991 Gulf War on Monday as top producers Saudi Arabia and Russia began a price war that threatens to overwhelm global oil markets with supply.

A nearly 25% slump in oil prices triggered panic selling and heavy losses on Wall Street’s main stock indexes as the rapid spread of coronavirus amplified fears of a global recession.

Saudi Arabia and Russia both said they would raise production at the weekend after a three-year pact between them and other major oil producers to limit supply fell apart on Friday. [...]

Saudi Arabia plans to boost its crude output above 10 million barrels per day (bpd) in April from 9.7 million bpd in recent months, two sources told Reuters on Sunday. The kingdom slashed its export prices at the weekend to encourage refiners to buy more.

Russia, one of the world’s top producers alongside Saudi Arabia and the United States, also said it could lift output and that it could cope with low oil prices for six to 10 years.

To put this in perspective Alaska produces roughly 400,000 barrels per day, in other words if you failed to already stock up on toilet paper and hand-sanitizer...you are, as the kids say..."shit-out-of-luck"

The definition of the term "SOL"

Definition:

To be completely out of luck; to experience very bad fortune

For example:

“I went to a restaurant in Buffalo, and they were out of Buffalo chicken wings. I guess I was just shit out of luck!”

If things get any worse, we will have to start keeping an eye out on our family--can we really trust them???

State hiring and travel freeze!

State employees are on travel restrictions as of today, with no travel out of state permitted for State business.

In addition, the Governor’s Office has implemented a hiring freeze due to the sudden drop in the price of oil.

The order came from a memo issued by Chief of Staff Ben Stevens, who pointed to the volatility in global oil markets as he announced an “immediate suspension of out-of-state travel for ALL employees and an immediate hiring freeze to reduce the impact on the state general funds.”

The hiring freeze applies to all positions, except for those necessary to protect the health and safety of Alaskans, he said.

Just in case, someone thinks we are being sarcastic (which is a sin!), we are deadly serious!! Alaska is collapsin'!!! These aren't jokes!!!!! What's the point of even living? America is on a collision course!!!!!!! Trump is just playing golf all day and taking orders from Putin!!!!!!! Dunleavy is literally too tall and doesn't care about the children who are much shorter and therefore catch the virus easier!!!!!!!!! Ketchikan and Juneau are out of toilet paper, hand sanitizer AND face-masks!!!!!!!!!!!!
