Another Ketchikan Corona Case Patient Gives An Update

From Russell:
I’m 24hrs away from being 3 days fever free and cleared of Covid-19. I’m feeling MUCH better. A HUGE thank you to friends and family who have reached out and especially Traci Biss for taking such wonderful care of me! I’m sorry I haven’t been well enough to respond to each of you. It has meant the world to me.

I ended up being hospitalized last week because of the high fevers, 104+ I also developed viral pneumonia. While I am cleared of the virus, I still have a cough due to the pneumonia and reduced lung capacity. Being over 50 and having type 2 diabetes, I have been at an increased risk. Mostly the diabetes. (53 isn’t THAT old!)

This virus can be be quite devastating. It’s amazing at how varied and disparate the symptoms can be and whom it seems to affect or not. Or, how badly the virus affects or doesn’t. The one sure thing is there really isn’t anything to be done but treat symptoms. I encourage everyone to be mindful, safe and educate yourself on how the virus does and DOES NOT work.

Please, don’t spread the virus, fear or misinformation. Having been through this, I have learned A LOT from going through this, having complications, being hospitalized and dealing with public health and one of the finest infectious disease doctors we have in the country. If you have any questions about the virus, please ask. I will do what I can to help answer any questions or concerns. I sure love my friends and family and am enormously happy to be on the other side of this. I’m not 100% yet... but I’m here.

Not infectious, and happy to get back to normal life! Much love to all of you and your loved ones!
