Comment Period for Ross-Adams Mine Cleanup

Contact(s): Paul Robbins Jr.

CRAIG, Alaska – The USDA Forest Service invites the public to comment on a draft Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Ross-Adams (Bokan) Mine Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act Project. The project is for removal of hazardous substances at the historic Ross-Adams Mine on Bokan Mountain on the Craig Ranger District.
Because part of the project requires historic features be altered in order to remove hazardous waste from the environment, the Forest Service must comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act by considering the actions effects on historic properties. The Forest Service is consulting with the Alaska State Historic Preservation Officer to mitigate adverse effects to the historic Ross-Adams Mine.

The public comment period begins April 6, 2020, lasting thirty days until close of business May 4, 2020. Submit comments by emailing shona.pierce@usda.gov with “Ross-Adams MOA” in the subject line.

Project information, meeting announcements, legal notices, and documents are posted on the project web page at:
