"We can now take orders from Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistants (PA), Christine said. “Before COVID-19 we could only take referrals from physicians.
"Now, with the virus, we’ve seen a significant increase in the number of people who need to stay at home and Alaska has changed their regulations.
“This is a big deal for a lot of people,” she continued, “local clinics operated by NPs, clinics on Prince of Wales, providers at Ketchikan Indian Community clinic, and our own NPs and PAs at the PeaceHealth Medical Group can make referrals which helps our patients have greater, less cumbersome access and smoother continuity of care.
“Before they had to transfer care to a physician who could then make the referral for Home Health services.”
