COVID-19 has Brought Many Changes to Healthcare

Source:
COVID-19 has brought many changes to healthcare. One change is getting a positive reaction from Christine Palmer RN, the manager of PeaceHealth Ketchikan Home Health.

"We can now take orders from Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistants (PA), Christine said. “Before COVID-19 we could only take referrals from physicians.

"Now, with the virus, we’ve seen a significant increase in the number of people who need to stay at home and Alaska has changed their regulations. “This is a big deal for a lot of people,” she continued, “local clinics operated by NPs, clinics on Prince of Wales, providers at Ketchikan Indian Community clinic, and our own NPs and PAs at the PeaceHealth Medical Group can make referrals which helps our patients have greater, less cumbersome access and smoother continuity of care.

“Before they had to transfer care to a physician who could then make the referral for Home Health services.” (The photo of Christine was taken before COVID-19. Our caregivers wear masks at work)
