- In response to the COVID-19 pandemic the annual convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses, scheduled to be held August 28-30 at the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, was cancelled and moved to a virtual platform at JW.org for the health and safety of our local communities. Nearly 3,000 from all across the State of Alaska were expected to attend.
- This is the first time in history all annual conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses globally have been moved to a streaming virtual platform.
- The program is being made available even to those living in remote communities in Alaska with limited internet and technology.
- The two Christian principles guiding the Witnesses’ historic decision are respect for the sanctity of life and love of neighbor.
- In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jehovah's Witnesses globally have paused their public ministry work. But out of concern and care for neighbors and community members, have moved to letter writing and telephone calls to give encouragement during uncertain time
