On 8/29/2020 at 1858 hours, Prince of Wales Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 1988 GMC pickup pulling a boat and trailer in Klawock. The vehicle was reported to troopers moments before as a Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately (REDDI). The driver, 51-year-old Stephen Brown of Klawock was arrested for Driving Under the Influence. Brown was transported to the Craig Jail where he was later released to a sober individual.

On 08/29/2020 at about 1706 hours, the Alaska State Troopers contacted a vehicle at mile 12 of the North Tongass Highway. Investigation revealed that the passenger Brandon Reinke, age 35 of Ketchikan had five outstanding warrants for his arrest reference the original charges of MIW 3rd Degree, MIW 5th Degree, DWLR, Avoid Ignition Interlock Device, and VCOR. Reinke was arrested on his warrants and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with bail set at $19,000.

On 8/29/2020 at 2240 hours, and as part of the DUI High Visibility Labor Day Enforcement, Prince of Wales State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2008 Toyota Tacoma near Klawock. The driver, 25-year-old Jacob Yates of Ketchikan was arrested for DUI. Yates was transported to the Craig Jail where he was later released to a sober individual.

On 9/2/20, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales Island located and seized a personal use dungy pot in the marine waters of Klawock Inlet that had improper escape rings. Investigation showed that Kyle Diaz, age 30 of Klawock, was fishing the gear. Diaz was later located and issued a minor offense citation for the violation.

On 09/04/2020 at about 1709 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of damage to a vehicle which was parked on Higgins Spur road. Investigation revealed that between 08/31/2020 to 09/04/2020 an unknown person(s) entered a person property and broke a window to a vehicle on the property. The estimated total loss of damaged property is $300.00. Anyone with information to this case or any criminal activity is asked to contact the Alaska State Troopers at 225-5118. On 09/04/2020 at about 2118 hours, the Alaska State Trooper conducted a traffic stop on a red Chevrolet Pick-up in the 3100 Block of Tongass Avenue. The vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation. Investigation revealed that the driver, Ian Rud, age 26 of Ketchikan was operating a motor vehicle while his license was Suspended. Rud was also found to have one prior conviction for DWLS. Further investigation revealed that Rud was also on current conditions of release which he was found violating which were set by the Ketchikan Courthouse. Rud was arrested for DWLS and VCOR.

On 9/5/2020 at 1920 hours, Prince of Wales State Troopers received multiple reports of a blue mini-van driving recklessly around the village of Hydaburg. Troopers conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle which was traveling at a high rate of speed near 14 mile Klawock/Hollis Highway. The driver, 24-year-old Kaleb Martin was subsequently arrested for DUI. Investigation also determined Martin does not have a valid operators license. Martin was transported to the Craig Jail and later released O/R.

On 09/04/2020 at about 1437 hours, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a white Ford near the intersection of Don King Road and the North Tongass Highway. Investigation revealed that the passenger and owner of the vehicle, Phillip Barton, age 42 of Ketchikan had knowingly placed another vehicles registration tabs on his vehicle due to his registration being expired. Barton was issued a Summons for Misuse of Plates.
