Type: DV Assault 2 and 4

Dispatch Text:

On 12/06/2021 at approximately 1022 hours, AST received a report of a DV assault in Kasaan. Investigation revealed Jacob Brewer, age 22 of Kasaan had assaulted a family member with a knife. Jacob was arrested and transported to Craig jail where he was remanded and held without bail.

Type: Concealment of Merchandise

On November 30, 2021 at approximately 0958 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Palmer received a report from Three Bears, reporting they had a shoplifter in custody, identified as Victoria Laporte, age 26 of Palmer. AST responded, where investigation revealed Victoria had concealed $35.54 worth of merchandise and tried to exit the business. Furthermore, investigation revealed Victoria had previously been trespassed from all Three Bears statewide. Victoria was issued a summons for Concealment of Merchandise and a summons for Criminal Trespass I.

On December 5, 2021, at approximately 1053 hours, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of two overdue snowmachiners that were traveling to Noorvik from Kotzebue.  The snowmachiners had left Kotzebue at 1300 hours on December 4, however, they never arrived in Noorvik. Kotzebue Volunteer search and rescue teams were deployed to search for the snowmachiners. At approximately 1645 hours, the two snowmachiners advised that were okay and waiting for a storm to pass at a cabin outside of Kotzebue. The search teams already in the field met up with the two snowmachiners at the cabin and the group returned to Kotzebue without incident. No injuries were reported.

Type: Narcotics Investigation

On December 4, 2021 Alaska State Troopers assigned to the Kodiak Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit contacted 55-year-old Kodiak resident Salalau Hamo Sega as he was arriving in Kodiak on a commercial flight. As part of an ongoing investigation into narcotics trafficking by Sega in the Kodiak area, Troopers have seized 177.38 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 5.15 grams of heroin from Sega, with a total street value in Kodiak of $38,970. As a result of the investigation, Sega was remanded to Kodiak Jail on charges of MICS II, MICS III, and MICS V. The Kodiak Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit is made up of law enforcement officers from the Alaska State Troopers, United States Coast Guard Investigative Service and Kodiak Police Department.

Type: Burglary 2nd X2

On 12/10/21 at approximately 2324 hours, Alaska State Troopers were alerted to suspicious activity on Blue Lupine Road, Palmer.  Investigation revealed Austin Nelson, age 30 of Anchorage had burglarized a business, utilizing a rolling suitcase to transport stolen items.  AST with the assistance of Wasilla Police Department located Nelson and his accomplice, Scott Robinson, age 65 of Eagle River who were southbound on the Glenn Highway in the suspect vehicle.  The two were arrested and remanded on charges of Burglary in the second-degree regarding ASTs incident.  Additionally, Nelson was identified as the suspect in multiple burglaries which have been occurring throughout the MATSU Valley.  Investigation is on going between AST and WPD.  Anyone with information regarding recent business burglaries is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 907-745-3333.
