Governor Walker Lowers Flags in Honor of Fallen Fairbanks Police Officer

October 28, 2016 ANCHORAGE – Governor Bill Walker ordered all Alaska flags to be lowered in honor of Fairbanks Police Sgt. Allen Brandt, who was shot multiple times in the line of duty on October 16 and passed away today.

“Byron, Donna, and I extend our deepest condolences to the family of Sgt. Brandt, the Fairbanks Police Department, and the entire Fairbanks community,” said Governor Walker. “This tragedy is a stark reminder of the incredible sacrifice and burden members of law enforcement bear each day to keep us safe. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sgt. Brandt’s loved ones and the people of Fairbanks tonight.”

Sgt. Allen Brandt was shot six times on Sunday, October 16 while responding to a disturbance in downtown Fairbanks. He is survived by his wife Natasha and their four children.
Governor Walker ordered all Alaska flags to be lowered immediately in honor of Sgt. Brandt. Flags should return to full staff at sunset on Friday, November 4, 2016.
