On 2/5/17 at approximately 1540 hours, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales Island conducted a traffic stop on a 2008 Ford truck for a speed violation. Troopers identified the driver of the vehicle as Todd A. Hanson, age 47 of Douglas, AK. Investigation revealed that Hanson was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Hanson was placed under arrest for DUI and transported to the Craig Jail facility where he was remanded.

On 02/03/17 at approximately 11:23 hours, Alaska State Troopers were advised of a Commercial Fire at the Viking Lumber Mill in Klawock. Both Klawock FD and Craig FD responded and extinguished the fire. Investigation revealed Viking Lumber was conducting a controlled burn which spread to the wood chip conveyor belt due to high winds. Initial estimate of damage by Viking Lumber is approximately $50,000. No foul play is suspected.
