On 6/18/17, Alaska Wildlife Troopers from Prince of Wales Island contacted Jonathan Young (52 yoa) of Washington State which resulted in Young being issued a citation for taking an over limit of non-pelagic rockfish. He has an optional appearance in the Prince of Wales District Court with bail set at $130.

On 6/20/17, Alaska Wildlife Troopers Prince of Wales Post finalized a three day investigation concerning a sport fishing charter operation based out of the Klawock Harbor. The investigation resulted in Stuart E Merchant (75 y/o) being charged with one count of Unsworn Falsification and three counts of violating Limitations for Halibut set by National Marine Fisheries Service by retaining halibut with no charter halibut permit. He has a mandatory appearance in the Prince of Wales District Court.

On 6/23/2017, Prince of Wales based Troopers received a report from 40 year old Michael Warner of Coffman Cove. Warner reported his vehicle which was left at the Inner Island Ferry Terminal in Hollis was stolen sometime between 6/17/2017 and 6/23/2017. The vehicle, a gray 1998 GMC Yukon bearing AK plate GNM442, has a brush guard and KC running lights mounted to the front. A green "BE ALIVE" sticker in the back window. Anyone with information in regards to this theft is encouraged to call Prince of Wales State Troopers at 823-2918.

On 06/22/17 at approximately 1956 hours, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales received a report of an unoccupied boat in the vicinity of California Island approximately 5.5 nautical miles southeast of Hydaburg. The boat’s operator, Francis Charles age 21 of Hydaburg, is unaccounted for. NOK has been notified of the search. USCG has assumed search responsibilities.
