On 12/26/2017, 35 year old Travis Tuttle of Craig, reported to AST that he hit a deer near 4 mile Craig Klawock Highway. No damage was reported to his 1991 Chevrolet pickup. The deer was salvaged by a local charity.

Focused Holiday Traffic Enforcement Stats so far:
Alaska State Troopers have been out on the roadways for the focused holiday enforcement effort. For the time period of 12/13/2017 through the morning of 12/28/2017, Troopers made the following contacts:

- 22 misdemeanor DUI arrests, 4 felony DUI Arrests
- 9 drivers charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.
- 67 REDDIs reported with 22 drivers contacted and ultimately determined not to be DUI
- 159 damage only crashes, 18 injury crashes and 2 fatal collision were investigated by troopers
- Of the 486 citations issued, 128 were issued for speeding and 15 issued for seatbelt or other occupant restraint violations

Troopers will continue the effort into the early morning hours of Jan. 1, 2018. If you plan on celebrating the New Year with any impairing substance, please have a plan to get home safe. That includes not getting behind the wheel. Additionally, don’t hesitate to make a REDDI report by calling 911! (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately).
