On December 2, 2019, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island contacted 46 year old Kirk Rasmus at his residence in Hydaburg. Rasmus was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant for Violating Conditions of Release. Rasmus was transported to the Craig Jail where he was remanded on $2500.00 bail.

UPDATE: On 11-26-19, Jonathan W. McGraw Jr, age, 45 of Naukati, plead guilty to two commercial fishing misdemeanors. The convictions are the result of a 2017, Alaska Wildlife Trooper investigation that showed McGraw harvested commercial cucumbers in a closed areas, unlawfully possessed the cucumbers, and provided false information on fish tickets. The area where the cucumbers were illegally harvested is an ADF&G research area where commercial diving is never permitted. McGraw was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail, pay $35,228.34 in fines, and loss of his commercial fishing privileges and license for one year . McGraw additionally was placed on one year probation.

ORIGINAL TEXT: On 03/07/2018 Alaska Wildlife Troopers from Klawock, Petersburg, and Wrangell concluded an investigation which begin in December 2017. Investigation determined Jonathan McGraw Jr. age 43, from Naukati, Keith Wagner, age 52 from Naukati, and Curtis Looper, age 27 from Naukati were commercially harvesting sea cucumbers from closed waters including from the sea cucumber preserve in Whale Pass. McGraw’s boat the F/V Bottom Time, a 19 foot aluminum work skiff, his dive gear, and 1263 pounds of sea cucumbers were seized on 12/19/2017. McGraw was charged with 7 counts of Commercial Fishing Closed Waters, 7 counts of Illegal Possession, 6 counts Falsifying Fish Tickets, 1 count of Violating Conditions of Release, 1 count of Fail to Display Vessel Identification, and 1 count of Employing an Unlicensed Crewmember. Wagner and Looper were charged with one count each of Commercial Fishing Closed Waters and Illegal Possession. Looper was additionally charged with one count of No Crewmember License.

In all, McGraw is suspected of unlawfully harvesting sea cucumbers on 7 occasions totaling 7,506 pounds of sea cucumbers valued at a total of $35,288.

On December 2, 2019, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island, became aware that 39 year old Joey Adams was placing phone calls from the Craig Jail to someone he was prohibited from having contact with by court order. The investigation resulted in arrest warrants being issued on Adams for Violating Conditions of Release x 2 and Unlawful Contact I. Adams was remanded on the new charges December 3, 2019 and remains at the Craig Jail.

On 12/07/2019 at about 0107 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of an Assault on Raven Avenue. Investigation revealed that Lorelei Michael, age 22 of Ketchikan physically assaulted another family member. Michael was arrested and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with No Bail. Alcohol was a factor.

Type: DUI, Failure to Give Immediate Notice of an Accident

On 12/07/2019 at about 0140 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) report on a brown Dodge Pickup truck which drove into the ditch on Beaver Street and then struck a parked vehicle before fleeing the area. AST located the pick-up truck parked at a business at mile 2 of the South Tongass Highway. The driver Karl Constantine, age 27 of Ketchikan was found to be operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol. Constantine was arrested for DUI and Failure to Give Immediate Notice of an Accident. Constantine was also issued a traffic citation for Failure to Show Proof of Insurance.
