Location: Prince of Wales Island

Type: Taking deer closed season

On 4/27/20, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales Island were notified of several deer that had been taken illegally during the closed season. AWT responded to the area and located four gut-piles, each with an unborn fawn, as well as, the heads and lower legs of four adult female deer. The deer appeared to have been recently killed (within the past 12 hours). The deer had likely been shot elsewhere and then transported to the remote log landing on Saltery Point near Hydaburg, where they were gutted and processed. Several items of evidence were located at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing. On 04/30/2020 at about 2206 hour, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance and theft at a residence in the 2500 Block of Eagle Avenue. AST and the Saxman VPSO responded. Investigation revealed that a 63 year old, male from Ketchikan was upset because a 56 year old, female from Ketchikan did not perform sexual favors which were agreed upon by both for a fee of $100.00. The male was upset because the female left the residence with his money. The female later agreed to return the money to the male. Charges of Prostitution are being forwarded to the District Attorney's Office on both Parties.

On 5/1/2020, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales Island were notified that a deer had been taken illegally during the closed season. A gut pile was located in a ditch of a residential area in the community of Hollis. The deer appeared to have been recently killed. The investigation is ongoing. This incident is the seventh human caused deer kill documented in less than a week on Prince of Wales Island. Anyone with information about recent deer harvests is encouraged to contact the Alaska Wildlife Troopers-Prince of Wales Post at 907-826-2291.

On 05/2/2020 at about 2245 hours, AST dispatch Ketchikan received a report of an unresponsive male in a taxicab outside South Tongass Service. VPSO responded and contacted the male who was identified my name and date of birth as Timothy Ellis (Timmy) age 43. Ellis was found to have two (2) outstanding arrest warrants, and conditions of release not to consume alcohol. No bail Parole Violation 44-05-909 and $1000 Probation Violation for original charge of theft 2 1KE-98-00286CR. Ellis was arrested and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center, without incident.

On 04/30/2020 at about 1222 hours, VPSO contacted Jamal Travis, age 36, of Hydaburg at his residence. Travis was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant. Travis was arrested and remanded to Craig Jail Facility, without incident. Bail was set at $500

On 05/01/2020 at about 1920 hours, VPSO contacted Thomas Shull, age 26, of Ketchikan. Shull was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant. Shull was arrested and remanded to The Ketchikan Correctional Facility, without incident
