Mayor of Klawock Makes a Public Statement on the New Year's Controversy

Mayor Lawrence was charged with soliciting of prostitution on January 1st and has made a public statement from his Facebook page regarding the incident:

I owe all of you an apology. I let you guys down. I'm truly ashamed of my actions, there's no excuse. So I'm not going to insult your intelligence by trying to give you one. I screwed up, in extravagant fashion. All I can hope for, is to be an example. It doesn't matter where you are in your life, it's ok to ask for help. Equally important, in my mind, tonight it sure seemed like we made great strides towards shaking the crabs-in-a-bucket mentality. I fell down hard, and it wasn't looking good. Tonight I am absolutely humbled. So many people came to the meeting tonight to help me and hold me up. I can't thank you enough.

I know I have a lot of work to do, earning back your trust and respect. That's not something I take lightly. Once again, I am truly sorry. Thank you so much for your support.
